THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL: KASHMIR
In 2008, a wave of public protests hit the Valley of Kashmir in India. What followed was a long war of words on the walls of the city of Srinagar, in the form of graffitis.

As a college project, in 2013, I started documenting and analysing writings on the walls of my city. The project aimed to read the political views of the the valley of Kashmir, through graffitis on the walls of its city.

In 2019, I decided to revisit the topic.

While earlier, the walls with graffiti would get repainted, at some point, it stopped.
Graffitis can now be seen almost in every locality, but their character, changed beyond legibility.

So, instead of political messaging, gibberish seems to have taken over the town.
